MountainCity: Looking Back at a Very Exciting Year!

(Denver, CO – posted by Jeanie Rhoades)  Almost exactly one year ago, on January 27, 2016, MountainCity released this video outlining plans for a Kickstarter campaign that would enable them to record and release one song per month for an entire year beginning June 2016.

A quick walk down memory lane

What an exciting year it has been for MountainCity! Let’s take a quick look back.

December 2, 2015 – At Dave and Tara’s “Colorado Christmas Concert” they announced they were launching a band called MountainCity. The band would feature the original music they had been writing and would have a singer/songwriter vibe, plus some modern folk, pop, country, and a little EDM (electronic dance music). The crowd went wild! Cheers-applause-clapping!

January 27, 2016 – Kickstarter Video was unveiled. In the video Tara explains, “Dave and I have been writing songs with our band. We know that the atmospheres we’re creating and the songs that we’re writing are actually releasing love and it’s refreshing for people.”

February 2016 – Kickstarter Campaign, “12 Months of Mischief,” kicks off with a goal to raise $23,000 to allow MountainCity to be able record and release one song per month from June 2016 through May of 2017.

February 2016 – MountainCity plays the Fire and Ice Festival in Loveland, Colorado, AKA Sweetheart City because of its’ Valentine re-mailing program (click here).

February 2016 – MountainCity performs a Valentine’s Concert in Boulder, CO

February 2016 – MountainCity plays first among several House Concerts over the next few months in Erie, CO (Interested in hosting a house concert? CLICK HERE)

March 1, 2016 – Kickstarter Campaign is completed with 100%+ goal met. 136 friends and backers made it possible for Dave and Tara and the band to record their music.

April 2016 – MountainCity plays at a non-profit fundraiser in Wray, CO

May 2016 – Into the studio. Recording, recording, recording…

June 2016 – First official MountainCity single drops, “Oh, Darling,” with not one, but four (4) versions! This original song was produced with a full band version, an instrumental version, an EDM-inspired remix and a remix Instrumental.

June 2016 – MountainCity plays a music festival in Ainsworth, NE

July 2016 – “Ours is My Favorite,” original song with a definite country flare is released, along with an instrumental version.

July – September 2016 – MountainCity plays at East Coast Pizza in Loveland, CO several times.

August 2016 – Release of “I Miss Your Sound“, with an instrumental version as well.

August 2016 – MountainCity plays Fam Jam at Belle Creek in Henderson, CO

September 2016 – “I Miss Your Sound” remix and remix-Instrumental versions are released.

October 2016 – MountainCity releases its’ first cover of the classic Elvis tune, “Can’t Help Falling in Love” on the 55th anniversary of the Elvis recording.

November 2016 – Dave and Tara start airing Facebook Live from their home each Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm, MST. During the relaxed, fun half-hour, they sing a few songs, interact with the live audience and throw in interviews and give-aways. https://www.facebook.com/mountaincitymusic/

November 2016 – The band releases original song “Since You’ve Come Around.”

December 2016 – “Being with You,” another MountainCity original song is released.

December 2016 – “It’s Christmas Time” Christmas concert is sold-out.

December 2016 – MountainCity Mixtape: Volume 1 CDs now for sale at live concerts.

January 2017 – Released “Growing Old with You,” another original song.

January 2017 – MountainCity signs with a management company in Nashville, TN.

What’s next?

Just in time for Valentine’s Day festivities and love in general, MountainCity will release, “Hearts Collide,” their most undeniably sensuous and intimate love song to date.

When asked what they are most looking forward to in 2017, Dave said, I’m excited about a possible tour later this year.” He also looks forward to continuing the monthly song releases and hinted at the possibility of a Christmas EP in the works.

Tara tells us, “I’m excited to write more songs and sing with my best friend/husband. I do love the potential of a fall tour as well.”

You can catch MountainCity on Facebook Live tomorrow night at 7:30 pm MST with special guest, Taylor Mesple. And they’ll be performing on the main stage at The Fire and Ice Festival in Loveland, Colorado on February 11, 2017 at 6:00 pm.

It’s been a whirlwind, but it is only the beginning…
