It isn’t such a ‘Black Friday’ after all for friends and fans of Denver’s own married musical duo, Dave and Tara Powers. The couple, who comprise MountainCity, have been honing their Christmas song repertoire in live Christmas concerts locally the past few years.

The EP is available now for digital download at mountaincitymusic.com/shop and for streaming on Spotify. The EP is also available on iTunes and additional music streaming services.

The songs

Love’s Gonna Find You is a veritable mix-tape of Christmas music, covering everything from time-worn hymns (O Come All Ye Faithful) to romantic songs in country and contemporary genres (Winter Wonderland, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas) and more.

The mix includes a blue-eyed soul version of a Ray Charles classic (That Spirit of Christmas) and Dave and Tara say they couldn’t do a Christmas album without including an homage to their home state (Colorado Christmas).

The EP features one original track (It’s Christmas Time), referencing all of Dave’s favorite sights and sounds of the Christmas season. He even sings a verse about his sons and his favorite track on the EP, which happens to be Tara singing her tender rendition of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

The title track, Love’s Gonna Find You, is one of those songs that will pull at your heartstrings. A sweet love song by a love song band, it encompasses the nostalgia we often feel during the holiday season, with the hopeful promise of love to come.

The final track (O Come All Ye Faithful), an instrumental featuring a hammered dulcimer, suddenly morphs into a group of MountainCity’s friends adding their recording-studio version of Christmas caroling to the song.

Physical CDs will be available for purchase at any of the six upcoming MountainCity Christmas concerts. The EP is also available for purchase as a digital download or hard copy CD on the MountainCity website, and the MountainCity Facebook Store.
